Spooky Carousel Rides and Ghost Tours Ready to Haunt Hampton
Hampton History Museum hosts a range of frightful fall attractions for ghoulish delight

Downtown Hampton will come alive with ghosts, goblins, and grim tales this Halloween season as the Hampton History Museum hosts two of the city’s most spirited attractions. From its centuries-old streets to its rare antique carousel, Hampton’s history comes with plenty of eerie echoes—making downtown the perfect haunt this Halloween season.
At the Hampton Carousel, the historic 1920s merry-go-round in Carousel Park will be transformed into a haunted ride featuring the infamous Headless Horseman. Families can enjoy spooky sights, free candy, and a spin on the intricately carved horses for just $1 per ride, Tuesday through Sunday, Sept. 30–Nov. 2.
For those craving a deeper chill, the museum’s Hampton Horror Tours return with new twists and characters for 2025. These 60-minute walking tours explore the darker corners of Hampton’s past, with stops at the centuries-old St. John’s Church graveyard and along the storied Queen and King Streets—once the bustling crossroads of Hampton’s cultural and commercial life. Guests will encounter haunted histories and decide the fates of restless souls as they wander through Old Hampton. Tours depart Oct. 25, 29, 30, and 31 at 6:30 and 8 p.m., with tickets ranging from $14–$18.
Proceeds from the Horror Tours benefit the Hampton History Museum’s educational programs. Every tour ticket also includes a free carousel ride.
